St. John the Baptist Kambuga Parish is found Kanungu district and was founded in 1981. It is administered by Spiritan Fathers and currently the Parish Priest is Fr. Paul Ssemwogerere, CSSp and the Curate is Fr. James Nnabuife John, CSSp. It has 19 outstations (hiikas) with four Eucharistic centres. According to the current census, Kambuga Parish has about 30,000 Christians. It has four Secondary Schools, two of them are government aided (Bishop Comboni College Kambuga and St. Charles Lwanga Secondary School Zorooma) and two are private (Bishop Callist Secondary School and St. Louis Girls’ Secondary School). It has nine primary schools and among them two are private ( Bright Future and Bright Star primary schools) and the other seven are government aided (Nyakashozi Primary, Muhumuza Primary, Kagashe Primary, Zorooma Primary, Rwere Primary, Kikombe Primary and Bugongi Primary).
In fulfilling the apostolate, the Parish collaborates with the Brothers of Christian Instruction who are the administrators of Bishop Comboni College Kambuga. They also work with the Fatima Sisters (Daughters of Our Lady of Fatima) who are working with Bishop Comboni College Kambuga, St. Louis Girls’ Secondary School (Head teacher) and Bright Future Primary School (Head teacher).
They also collaborate with the Laity in fulfilling the apostolate which include the Parish council team, catechists, chairpersons of small Christian communities, leaders of the Lay apostolate movements and all Christians who are ready to collaborate in the mission.
