About Metanoia Treatment  and Rehabilitation Centre (METRC)

Metanoia Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (METRC) is a company registered with Uganda Registration Statistical Bureau (URSB) and Ministry of Health with the aim of providing treatment and rehabilitation services to all persons with mental and addictive illness in Uganda and beyond. METRC started as response to the global public health burden of abuse of alcohol, illicit drugs, and psychoactive substances that account for 11.8 million deaths each year. (METRC) has designed treatment and rehabilitation programs to help all those suffering with addictive illnesses especially the youth and middle aged persons who are vulnerable to this disease. Globally, 1.5% of global disease burden results from alcohol and illicit drug addiction. Alcohol, cannabis, knat, heroin, cocaine, kuber, mirage, marijuana, and prescription drug abuse are main underlying factors ultimately responsible for people’s physical, mental and emotional impairment. Alcohol, illicit drugs and psychoactive substance abuse affects 13 of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Uganda’s realization of Vision 2040. (METRC) is therefore committed to help individuals suffering from addictive illness get treated, rehabilitated, empowered and changed to bring hope to themselves and the community.
